For 3 weeks, 13 students from Deakin University, Australia and 27 students from the Faculty of Architecture, MAHE worked together to design a pre-school for local children (Anganvadi) in the rural hamlet of Shirthady, near Moodbidri.
They did a lot of design work in understanding the site and local needs, and met with numerous stakeholders including local architects. At the end of it all, they came up with five designs that were exhibited in Mangaluru.
It was a wonderful experience to go through the exhibits and engage with the creative students. Their passion was evident in their work. And particular kudos to the students from Deakin University in coming here and contributing their efforts to a worthy cause.
The CEO of the local Zilla Parishad too was impressed with the student design and offered his assistance, and importantly funding to build 2-3 Anganvadis with the student designs.
Pictured below is the winning design and their team. Congratulations.
